During one specific day of the year, the happiest place in the world is Poland. Every February the whole country goes nuts for pączki (donuts). Our own version of French Mardi Cras and English Pancake Day is known locally as Tłusty Czwartek (Fat Thursday). Prior to Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season average person consumes 3 donuts so we do not hold back! More than 100 million of pączki are eaten in this day. Traditional pączek is a fried donut glazed with sugar, typically filled with rose marmalade and covered with candied orange peel but some other versions might reach 700 calories or more. How many donuts do you think you could eat? ??
