The first of May is a national, public holiday in many countries across the world, generally known as “Labour Day,” “International Workers’ Day,” or some similar name. Peter J. McGuire, a carpenter and labor union leader, was the person who came up with the idea for Labor Day. He thought American workers should be honored with their own day. He proposed his idea to New York's Central Labor Union early in 1882, and they thought the holiday was a good idea, too. From the distant past of the Industrial Revolution to modern times, the way we think of how we divide personal and work time has changed dramatically. The notion of an eight-hour workday developed from the idea of allowing people eight hours each for recreation, rest, and work. The work-life balance approach, importance of well-being of employees are becoming the most important policy all over the world. Being aware of these trends will help business owners better position their chances for success. On this special day, let’s be grateful for the times we live in and celebrate it… resting. ?
